I am discussing inbound link factorsand their impact on rankings in the Google SERPs. This deals with how Google weights links coming in to a page on a given site from other external sites. The clickable text in a link is called anchor text.

Serving Content Based On IP Address & Cookies

Continuing the interview between Eric Enge and John Mueller, Eric addresses the issue of serving content based on IP address to differentiate between users speaking different languages and content dealing with country specific issues.

A good example of the latter would be serving a listing of products for users in Auckland and a different set of products for users in Christchurch on the basis that consumer preferences are quite different.

Relationship Between Trust And Link Building

Hi everyone,

Today I am going to dwell on the role of trust and the way search engines perceive it in the light of link building. Trust is a much bandied word in the search engine industry and it directly relates to the trust acquired by a domain.

When a site is penalised, one of the most important things to check is if the site is still in good neighbourhood. In other words, the links pointing from the site to questionable areas (read untrustworthy sites) on the web can be a reason. This is strikingly similar to the societal analogy - You are judged by the company you keep.
