Hi all,
Google has introduced Google Profiles which offers a window of opportunity to each one of you to have an introduction to yourself and what you do.
You can view a good example of a Google Profile for Charles Coxhead, Vice President, Netconcepts New Zealand.
One of the most important factors that influences several decisions in the modern world is Online Reputation Management (ORM).
As an example you could be entering into a business relationship with a prospective business partner. You could go to Google and type in your business parnter’s name or company name. If there are negative results, that could go a long way in influencing your future relationship as you would not want to compromise in any way. If it is a personal relationship, the outcome could be far more dramatic
The tragedy is that lot of the negative information could be cheap canards. Getting swayed by them is typical human nature and the reaction to it is a natural result.
With a Google Profile, you have absolute control over what appears with regards to your personal and professional details. Being a Google profile, it carries a good amount of integrity. You can make your information limited or detailed in scope and it is entirely upto you.
The Google profiles appear at the bottom of the Google search results pages. At the time of writing this, it is limited to the US domain.
There is away of verifying your name. It might help your profile rank better if you share your name with celebrities. I am not sure what it does. To verify your name, you will have to sign into Knol. Detailed instructions can be found in an excellent post at SEOmoz.
